| Great defense.
Besides, great defense creates offensive opportunities like fast-breaks and turnovers.

| Defense. There's a reason the Celtics have won titles and not teams like the run and gun Suns. And as Nick C said, great defense often generates good offense. | |

| Offense..... I like defense but when u play a game most people look at it as whoever scores the most points, they dont look at it like whoever allows the least points Both are important but if u have a team of the best offensive players and the worst defenders and a team of the best defenders and the worst offensive players who would win? | |

| Proffesionnally though when u look at the NBA defense would win cause all the players are outstanding offensively and defense is just what sets them apart. | |

You can get cold on O but if all you have is D... then you won't really win anything because you kinda need points to win hahah

| Defense. If you don't play D, or don't care about D, how are you going to get the ball? How are you going to stop the opposing teams, when they stop you half of the time? How do you get motivated (No, making a long 3-pointer, Dunking, or breaking someone's ankles isn't motivation, it causes you to be cocky, flashy, and a showboat, especially when you get scored on the other end)? You don't just say, "He're, drive, make a lay-up, I want the ball so I can make people impress me by how many points I got". I'm a defensive specialist, and in which I suck horribly on offense, but my defensive, mental, and rebounding make up for it, as offense is, well, like Nick C said (what am I, like, the 10th person who has used what Nick C said?), great defense creates great offense(ive oppurtinities ). I can name you every element of defense, every way of playing defense, everything you need to know about defense. This is why I like certain players, in Howard, Garnett, Pietrus, Westbrook. | |

| Go ahead have a balance. The greater defenders are able to stop any move in any arsenal of any player. | |

| WAIT! WTF HAPPENED TO MY POST!?
IT TOOK ME ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO PUT ALL THAT DOWN! Ugh. Main point. 8th grade coach put me in with 3 min. to go down by 6 to stop this beasty Point Guard. I did. PG got mad. Kicked the ball. And I'm a beast. It's pretty fun. Yeah, you get made fun of for not having 20 point games, or breaking people's ankles. Who cares!? You're a winner! Who gives a shit what others have to say. Play your game.

| I'm all-county. And yet I only average 7 PPG, 2 APG. 8 RPG, 7 BPG, 4 SPG, and nobody scored more than 10 points on me last year | |

| Defense is a much harder task to accomplish than offense, which annoys me when people brag about 20 PPG or a 30 point game, or if they make a few threes in a row. Offensively, yuo could be a good shooter and know how to play, and you could score however much you like. Defensively, you have to be tough, determined, agile, mobile, hustling, and most of all, you have to know what you are doing, and that's confusing. Yeah, I bet you didn't pay attention when your coach tells you about shifting zone defense or help man to man defense, am I right? I'm the only one that listens. Everyone else is worried about running some damn suicides. I like suicides, the feeling you get when you know you're getting better. It might be because I'm first every time, though | |

| You see, the flaw with having all defense and no offense is that even if you manage to shutdown the person you're guarding the game will end up in a tie, well, simply because you have zero offense. If you have all offense and no defense, you at least have a chance to get a few points on the board whereas a complete defensive-minded team would struggle greatly on the offensive side. | |
