Is KG's defense overrated?

Do you feel that the Boston's defensive system makes KG look like a better defender than he actually is?

I was talking to someone and they were saying that how Boston's defense was still good when KG was out with an injury and that Boston's defensive specialist is that good enough to make KG's defense look better than what it actually is.

So what do you guys think?

lol just kidding okay? But I think he is not overrated in defense. Boston will have more defensive pressure when he doesn't play. So the offense will be come tired.

KG was a great defender before he came into Boston. In Minnesota he was already a great defender. It's KG and Tom T. that made Boston into the great defensive team that they are. Before them they had an unnoticed/underrated defender in Paul Pierce, but the team defense overall speaking was pretty bad. Minnesota on the other hand that's what they were those years when KG was pretty much a 1 man team besides 2004, a defensive team. There's nothing overrated about a 6"11 player that can guard all 5 positions.

No. KG isn't the same defender he use to be (all world in his prime with the Wolves). His injury he had last season was a major one... serioulsly does Boston lose to Orlando in 7 games with a healthy Garnett? They are a far weaker team without KG.

Kedrick Perkins is more of a brusier than a defensive specialist. Rondo is probably their only other lock down defender. Pierce can defend some, but without James Posey backing him (or any wing on that roster with some ability to defend... don't even think Tony Allen. HA!), he's doesn't get the breather time and gets worse as the game goes on, as he has to expend more energy in the offensive end to win games. Wallace plays defense when he not too busy shooting threes and arguing with the refs. So... he basically doesn't play much D anymore.

Glen Davis? No...

Eddie House? Yeah right...

Ray Allen? When he was a Buck... like in his rookie year.

Scalabrine? Not even on Playstation.

Yes KG is that important to the Celtics.

KG's a Top 5 defender in the league now,not on the 08 level but sure is in the one of the very best because he has good footwork,size,athleticism and IQ along side passion to win and to stop a guy at anytime.That's great for a defender,plus he's tall as a center and quick as a SF which makes him versality defender who can stop anyone.

And he was great defender even before coming to the Celtics

I don't think KG's D is overrated. When he plays, the PPG allowed and FG% of the other team is a lot lower compared to when he isnt playing

His defense was one of the main reasons why Celtics won a championship
