| Donnie get er' done!!! What this trade does is relieves Eddy Curry's overpayed expiring contract and brings in an overpayed expiring contract in McGrady with much more value. In that unlike Curry's expiring contract T-MAC doesn't have a player's option in his unlike Curry and being that thanks to Isiah Curry gets payed 9+ million for gorging himself all of these years I wouldn't blame Curry if he took advantage of this and remain under contract in NY. That would not fare well for our future plans and that's why we couldn't trade him for all these years. If Houston takes Curry, who is also in Mike D's doghouse it's fine by me.
T-Mac gives us a 23 million expiring contract that NY can either resign if 2010 doesn't go as planned and if his 2010 stint in NY pays dividence. Realistically, though not renewing his contract frees up 23 mil worth of cap space, which is bonus money to ensure some FA signings this upcoming off-season. T-MAC is a walking injury waiting to happen these days, but if he can give NY just a glimor of his past self just this season it would be good to rejuvenate his career and good for NY as well. I mean he can give us another scoring option, maybe a scorer down the stretch, an average defender, and more importantly another ballhandler is necessary for Duhon and the NY Knicks. T-MAC in NY would also do good cause it'll move Wilson Chandler back to his natural position of SF.
Then NY should make a trade elsewhere trading away Nate, the other player in the dog pound along with Curry for an expiring contract or 2 if we can. Then NY is 1 step closer to getting rid of all the bad contracts with Jared Jeffries the only one that remains. Hopefully, NY can trade him by season or off-season end as well.

| I would normally want to include Nate's expiring contract in this trade, but I don't want to do the Rockets dirty like that. They have a nice thing going on with their guards in the duo of Brooks & Lowry. I'd hate for any distractions to come and mess things up, which is exactly whate Nate would be. Plus, if Wafer does come back there's no need for Nate. Houston could use a bit more offense in the low post and that is what Curry gives you in the right system. The guy can score down there that's all he's good for and Adelman could use that to his advantage. Houston bigs are so deep defensively, hitting them boards, and overall physicality that they can hide Curry's softness and make him look good. | |
