Do you think that prime Allen Iverson is better then prime Kobe Bryant?

Hm.............This got me really thinking,this is skills,no rings,not anything else.How would prime Kobe do vs prime Iverson

Points:Tough to one to say

Both of them are excellent scorers,Iverson led the league 4 times and Kobe led it 2 times.Allen is fantastic driver to the rim,can score a lot,gets lots of FT shots,great crossover machine and fast player but his scoring weakness was his FG%.Kobe,great shooter,good driver,good hyghflyer and good shooter but his shooting streaks were and still are problem.Depends how he gets it.

Assists:Allen Iverson

I would say Allen because he got his team mates involved more then Kobe and averged 7 APG in his career a lot of times

Defense:Close,but to me it's Iverson.Kobe plays better on ball defense but Iverson was good on ball defender and great at getting steals.He led the NBA in steals as well

Also,in their macth ups Iverson was fantastic,including that 1st Finals game vs the Lakers in 2000.With no acomplishments in,pure skills on the table,i would say Iverson

Kobe has a 3pt game....AI's rarely shows up
Kobe has a devastating post game for his position....AI's doesn't need to be explained

And don't even compare assists....
Kobe plays in a triangle offense......don't expect him to put up monster assists numbers...

AI holds the ball for 20 secs....then passes the ball...which forces the other guy to put it up.....and thus resulting in 6 or 7 assists....

And did you just fucking say that Kobe's and AI's defense is close?!!

I know triangle doesn't involve assists, but anybody want to explain to me why PG's have no real use in the triangle? I mean, what stops them from getting assits.

A true triangle offense's first option is giving it to the post....that itself rids the PG of getting any assits...
If the first option is covered....a player comes off the screen (usually Kobe in this case)...and he gets the ball....and as you know...Kobe isn't a catch and shoot player....no assist for the PG..

After this....the PG either goes to the corner or the top of the circle to just wait.....wait so that he can shoot..
Thats why a good shooting PG is very important in the triangle....
Triangle doesn't necessarily need an athletic or creative PG

Oh. So basically Derek Fisher is basically THE perfect PG for the triangle.. damn I hate the Lakers and everything going right for them...

He would be perfect if he can play a lick of defense....
But on the offensive end...yeah...he's probably the best fit...

Thats what fucking Farmar and Brown are for.. damn the Lakers.

Kobe had more of a complete game but AI was just more.........

Allen Iverson is an amazing, speedy scorer. He's a flat out beast. If he's hot for a season/series/game, he'll take you to a whole new place.

But, Kobe is, Kobe.

I don't even think this needs to be debated. Bryant is a Top 10 (Top 5 and even Top 3 by many) player. Iverson might be able to crack a regular fan's Top 30.

And you can't really take Leadership and Accomplishments out of this conversation. A Leader is a Leader. It'll affect his teammates, his opponents. He'll be able to take you places. A Leader will take over when you're down by 5 in the the 4th, when you're down by 30 at Halftime. Iverson isn't a leader. He's far to inconsistant to take that role. Kobe, well, do I have to explain?

And as for accomplishments, both are near or at the end of the road. Kobe's been winning all kinds of different awards and honors, from All-Defensive Teams to Gold Medals with Team USA Basketball. AI has All-NBA, All-Star Games, and an MVP Trophy I believe.

Iverson's a driver. A tough, hard-core foul-drawer. Kind of like a mini-Dwyane Wade (without the defense, the rebounding, and the will). Kobe, can drive. Kobe, can shoot. Kobe, can pass. Kobe, will lead the break, or finish it. He'll set up a big dunk for one of his bigs, or he'll take an outlet to jam it in a defender's face.

Kobe's way more complete than Iverson.
And I'm not talking about complete game, I'm just putting in Offensive talent.

I don't know much about Pettit since he was a rookie in 1945 lol...

So there was no way I knew about his defense/offensive game...
But besides...I wouldn't necessarily consider him an alltime great...idk though..

He's there, right after the Power Forwards Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, Charles Barkley, Kevin McHale, and Kevin Garnett.
