How much weaker do the Celtics become when Garnett is out?

Last season in the playoffs with Garnett injured, it obviously affected Boston. If that type of thing happens again early in the season, how will that affect Boston's playoff chances?

idk I got the C's winning it all next year.

They have the best starting 5 in the league and there is nothing missing on their squad.

They got the 2nd best 3pt shooter ever, top ten best SF ever, DPOY 2 years ago in KG, great PG in Rondo, now a vet. in Wallace who could spread the floor.

The Lakers got the record 65-17 because of Pau. He was the person who ran the defense and he's the best defensive player for the lakers.

garnett is their defensive voice on the floor. thats where it hurts the most.

I think the part tht hurts them most is leadership at times. KG keeps the team intact without anyother player having to be big but without him we are going to have to see rondo be a leader,pierce be a leader(which he wasnt last year), and allen having to be a main leader. Then their defence is going to hurt no duh. All in all they are worst but still capable of a 3rd seed.

Defensively they go from being a "great" team, as in one of the Top 3 in the NBA, to middle of the road, "good" and their flaws on the defensive side of the ball begin to show heavily. Not to knock Doc Rivers, okay maybe just a little. KG is like a coach on the floor, maestroing the younger players. Without KG, they're not a contender. But a mid-level playoff-team at best.

If it happens early in the season, I wouldn't be too worried. I would certainly take my time with him in rehab, though. In fact, if I were the Celtics I would try to protect KG the same way the Spurs do with Duncan, and you have the talent to do it. Give Wallace, Davis and even Shelden Williams more minutes so KG can rest his knees. Because the Celtics will be one of the top playoff teams regardless of their seeding, so why risk it?

The Celtics get madd weak without KG because he is the base of the D and keeps everyone pumped up. He is a team player who rallies his teammates to be better.

they could still be 2 or 3 in the east without him, especially after keeping davis and adding wallace, but they wouldn't win a 7 game series against the NBA's elite like Lakers, Cavs, Magic, Nuggets, Spurs, Mavericks

The Bulls almost took them out when they didn't have KG. I think that drops them a few spots

yes but it was almost and the bulls were playing really well coming into the playoffs. plus they took magic seven without him. they also added wallace who can play either post spot.

KG brings the good defense and intensity with him
