Dwight Howard is overrated

He is the only great Center in the league, yet we act like he's anywhere near Shaq's level.

No WE don't.

Dwight is a better rebounder and has had more blocked shot in his first 7 seasons that Shaq... and he's just a better defender overall.

But, overall Shaq is better... one of the greatest dominant players ever.

He destroyed teams. I don't know what you listen to or who you talk to, but no one is acting like Dwight is better than Shaq here.

Shaq played against tougher Centers; Hakeem. Who did Dwight play against?
Shaq's rookie season w/ Orlando is better than all of Dwight's put together.

Shaq is not the greatest center ever. Or player.

He had the potential to be the best, But not the drive.

He played a great center in the Finals once... And got killed by Hakeem Olajuwon.

He couldn't beat David Robinson till Kobe was onboard.

After that, Rik Smits, Dikembe Mutombo, Todd McCulloch, Erick Dampier.

And lost to Ben Wallace.

4 of his rings came against far inferior centers. The last one he needed Dwyane Wade to carry him.

I think Shaq is arguably not only the greatest center (a position which has most candidates in the G.O.A.T debate) and arguably why Shaq is the best ever

Then again, i can think of another 10 players with cases for the best ever

Shaq was young, Hakeem was experienced.
Shaq was very skinny w/ the Magic, and put Lakers Shaq on the championship run they had, he would DEMOLISH Hakeem.

I don't think Hakeem really dominated shaq in the finals.

their stats in the finals:

Hakeem: 33 PPG / 11.5 RPG /2 BPG /48.5 % shooting

Shaq: 28 PPG /12.5 RPG /2.5 BPG /60 % shooting

and Hakeem took a shit load of shots.

yeah Orlando got swept.. but it's not cuz of Shaq. Hakeem had great games, but Cassell had 2 big games, Clyde drexler had a couple of big games and as did Robery Horry and mario elie for the rockets.

Penny hardaway and Grant did good for ORL, but not as good as the other guys on HOU.

Shaq had one 30+ point game to Hakeem's 4 in the sweep.

Hakeem was double teamed by Shaq and Horace Grant, while Shaq was played straight up by Hakeem.

Shaq couldn't cover Hakeem on his own.

hakeem attempted 30 shots in 3 of those games and 26 in the other. If he shot the same amount of times as shaq did, he too would only have 1 30 point game.. or maybe 0.

If shaq shot it 30 times, he probably would have had 30+ in all 4 games like Hakeem did.

and Shaq did great against Hakeem considering he was in his 3rd year and Hakeem is one of the best D centers of all time.
