| ^^^ Some people can get away with it...like Lebron, John Wall (in college) and even Derrick Rose to an extent (although Rose's mid-range jumpshot is pretty good)
But DeMar DeRozan...no.

| DeRozan just seems focused and dialed in this season, he's really working hard. He could maybe become something better in a few seasons. | |

I don't see DeRozan ever putting up more than 15 PPG during his career, while spending most of it on the bench (once he ditches Toronto)

| The best hope for the Raptors is to employ the Ted Leonsis strategy that is being used for the Wizards (And the other two teams he owns):
1. Build through the draft with a young core. This is the cheapest way to get great players who become franchise cornerstones. (Every lotto team does this) 2. Make trades with other teams to grab additional draft picks or additional young players (Minnesota in 2009; Sonics and Thunder in 2007 through now; Wizards in 2010). 3. Use free agency as a way to add a supplemental piece to the pie (Pistons in 2003; Washington Mystics in 2010). NOT as the primary way to build a team (Cavs at the trade deadline in 2007; Celtics in 2007; Heat in 2010).
The Raptors should employ this strategy and in depending on how lucky they get in the draft lottery, they should be able to draft some great players over the next couple years, perhaps trade Calderon or whoever else they have to other teams where they grab more young prospects with potential, and the Raps this way can be a perennial power.

| Re-building a team through the draft lottery takes time. If players face poor season after poor season after poor season with the strategy, "Oh, well we'll get lucky in the draft once and get some good players!", they will want to leave Toronto like Bosh | |

| That's true to a degree. Drafting does require some luck. It also requires a good coaching staff that can develop those picks and get them playing together with the team. Seeing Toronto become like another Atlanta would be ideal, though the Hawks picked up Joe Johnson through free agency. | |

| 1. Get rid of Jose for some good young players....or cheap contracts 2. Try to get into the lottery next season..... 3. As of right now.....try to get Bargnani to be the franchise player | |
