Utah Jazz
Who owns them?
The Larry H. Miller Companies (I'll call it LHM) owns the Utah Jazz and have owned at least part of the team since 1985 and has owned the whole team since 1986. The CEO of LHM is Greg Miller. The previous don, Larry Miller passed away last year. His company was grown first from car dealerships, to restuarants, movie theaters, and financial services and of course sports.
Does Ownership own other teams and facilities?
Yes. LHM owns the Pacific League's Salt Lake bees, the AAA affiliate to the MLB's Los Angeles Angels. LHM also co-owned the WNBA's Utah Starzz, one of the eight charter teams from 1997 to 2002, when he sold the team to Peter Holt's enterprise, Spurs Sports and Entertainment where the team moved to San Antonio, Texas. It's now known as the San Antonio Silver Stars.
LHM owns the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, which houses the Jazz.
Do I think that Ownership is doing a good job?
Yes. At the box office, the Jazz have consistently filled their arena to at least around 90% capacity since Stockton retired and Karl Malone went to a warmer city. Benefits for full season ticket holders are also really nice, including relatively cheap ticket prices for most locations, discounts off concessions for every game, and $100 - $500 in credits toward tickets not just for the Utah Jazz, but also the Bees (though it's minor league baseball), and the Miller Motorsports Park, which is also owned by LHM. Also, ticket holders get free ticket upgrades for certain games. Certainly, that's more in benefits than what the Wizards give, and we have pretty cheap tickets ourselves.
On the court, the Jazz have always been a consistent and stable franchise from the Stock and Malone days to the current Deron Williams period. But one factor has remained the same all this time. The Head coach is Jerry Sloan who has been leading the Jazz since 1988 and he would have definitely won an NBA championship by now if it weren't for another NBA team owner I talked about earlier.
