Denver Nuggets
Who owns them?
Kroenke Sports Enterprises, LLC owns the team. The owner of this enterprise is Stanley Kroenke who is a billionaire who earned his fortune through real estate investments. He is married to Anne Walton, one of the heirs of the Wal-Mart empire. Kroenke Sports is based in Columbia, Missouri, where the man himself lives.
Does Ownership Own other teams and facilities?
Kroenke Sports may quite possibly be the largest of all groups aside from MSG so far. It completely owns several sports teams addition to the Nuggets. They are the NHL's Colorado Avalanche; the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth; MLS' Colorado Rapids, and the NFL's St. Louis Rams. Kroenke Sports also is the largest shareholder, owning 29.9% of the Premier League's Aresnal F.C. soccer team, based in North London, United Kingdom. Kroenke Sports also partially owned the Arena Football League's Colorado Crush until the team folded in 2008.
Kroenke Sports owns the Pepsi Center where the Nuggets, Avalanche, and Mammoth play. The Rapids own their stadium, Dicks Sporting Goods Park in nearby Commerce City. The Rams do not own the Edward Jones Dome which is owned by the City of St. Louis. Arsenal fully owns Emirates Stadium located in Holloway, London in the UK.
Do I think that Ownership is doing a good job?
On the court, I don't think the Nuggets have fully hit their potential. Since getting Carmelo Anthony, one of the league's best forwards in 2003, the Nuggets have won three division titles, and they did make the playoffs every year. However, they only went past the first round of the playoffs ONE TIME, in 2009 when they got to the Conference Finals. They potentially have the talent to sneak into the Finals, sure, but the window is closing as Chauncey and Kenyon both age, and Carmelo is counting down until he gets on "The Decision" next July..... At least they have solid young players in Ty Lawson and J.R. Smith who can be part of a new core in the post Carmelo era if that has to be....
Off the court, the Nuggets have averaged 85 to a bit over 90% capacity for their games, which is expected, or maybe even less, since they have one of the best scorers in the league. The arena was about 75% capacity in 2002-2003 the year before Melo showed up. How will it be if he's gone this year or next? Their tickets aren't that cheap, though they're not the most expensive in the league either....
