All you guys who say offense>defense have obviously never stepped on the court.
Of course, you can't win if you can't score. But you know what else? You can't score if you don't have the ball. So what are you gonna do? Let the opponent have a layup so that you regain possession? No, you bust your ass on D to gain possession of the ball so that you can score.
Of course, all offenses have cold nights...there are nights when you miss your layups and wide open J's. But you can never be off on the defensive side of the floor. Sure, your shot's off, but if you're a good enough defender, you never forget how to move your feet, deny ball side, cut off the baseline, smother the ball or play passing lanes. In fact, being off should encourage you to play better D.

So defense>offense. Always.

Oh, and on topic, I prefer Dwight, but I do have to acknowledge Yao's polished offensive game.

Here is the deal. No team can win with just offense and no team can win with just defense. You need both to have a great team.

I play basketball daily our team is 32-1 and we dont play ANY fucin defense

then agan im probably better than all of yall together on the court.......

Ahahahahaha.

What's your stats?

my team is almost like the Lakers we dont play much defense but we can score

I know you're a great player(you mention it all the time) and I"m sure your team is great.. but continue to not play D as you start to get older and the teams you face get better... see how lopsided the games become.

It's one thing to talk shit on the Internet bragging to everyone how good you apparently are, and another to back it up with maybe a video or a website that posts stats for your local league.

You're 13 years old. I don't know many 13 year olds that play legit
D so I see where you're coming from. But as soon as I got to high school, the coach made us sprint back on D, play tight man to man D, or else he'd sit me down on the bench.
If you have any hopes of playing high school/college ball, or if you aspire to be in the NBA, start playing D, son. If you develop the habit of not playing D you will never be good at it...and all your offense in the world can be shut down by someone who did the hard yards and learned to play D.
