Kobe.... Jordan.... Gotta say I wish I had a time machine to watch both in their prime MJ of 37pts vs. Kobe of 35... wow... I feel like it anyones game... but out of a 7 game series Jordan.
fun to watch? hell yeah!
anyones game? not really.. If you wanna take those seasons from each player, MJ has the clear advantage. They both took about 27 Shots per game. MJ made them at 48% to kobes 45%. but according to everyone... isn't the 80's the greatest defensive era of all time? 00's era cleary favors guards and rules are set up so that it's easier for the offensive player. Not to mention that MJ has an NBA record 40 straight games with at least 27 points that season. Also, on D, MJ had 3 SPG and 1.5 BPG to kobes 1.8 SPG and .4 BPG.
and I would actually say that MJ's best season was either 87 or 88.
that's why between the 2.. i don't feel like its anyones game. haha Yeah, but Kobe attempts way more threes which attributes largely to his lower FG%. The greatest defensive era was actually in the late 80 to mid 90's until the league abolished or enforced multiple rules that gave defenders an advantage. The treatment Jordan got on whistles tho... I haven't seen a player that coddled since Wade played Dallas in the Finals.
The thing is Jordan never played someone that had the same attributes as him. Clyde Drexler was the closest... but outside of him very few shooting guards in the 80's had an almost a mirror game of Jordan. Kobe has had far more athletic guards to cover than Jordan did in the 80's. I give Jordan the win, but I think it's a lot closer than you think it is. the 3 point shot is about the only thing Kobe has over MJ. Even with Kobe making all those threes.. MJ still averaged more PPG. free throw attempts career wise- MJ 8.2 attempts per game. Kobe 7.6 attempts per game. take away kobes first couple of seasons [cuz he didn't play as much] and he averages about the same amout as MJ. AND MJ drove more.. kobe takes more jumpers.. but the fouls called are similar? athletic guards, yes. but does anyone ever think that maybe the reason why there are so many good guards in todays game is cuz the rules favor them? I'm sure if the defense favored guards in the early 90's and througout the 80's, there would have been guards scoring a lot more.

Good points there This is just an opinion, you can go either way. They played in different eras with different rules. It's true that Jordan played against superb defenders(most of them were DPOY winners) and outstanding defensive teams, aside of Drexler, there wasn't probably guys with great offense that he could beat like Kobe has in these days with the likes of LeBron,Wade,Durant and so on,plus with easier rules Though,it's an opinion.I say Jordan as well, but i don't think it's that close. However,i'm going to respect Nick's opinion because he actually got to see them in their best times, which is a thing,i didn't have a chance too

I wasn't comparing singular seasons as their best seasons... just thinking of when both were at their scoring individual height. BUILD A TIME MACHINE NENAD!!! I'll work on the kidnapping plan. I'll lure Jordan with endorsement contracts in 86 and Kobe with Shaq taunts in 05... It's all coming togehter.

Good point here Nenad, sorry to quote you like this all the time But yeah, the rules in some way make the players better and also the balance between the offense and defense today also I mean, many coaches and players such as the likes of Drexler, said that these rules that made them better and they wouldn't score so many points with consistent hand in their face. He's got some point Larry Brown said that the college game is more physical than in the NBA and that if Jordan ever got the chance to play all like he did from these times that he would average 50...

Where do you want them to play bball against
I think i have some ideas 1: Nenad, you were scary looking as a baby. 2: @Darko... hmmm... somewhere like... I dunno. Like in cave... with hot molten lava surrounding the court with my favorite actress' as cheerleaders and an insulated/air conditioned box seat... Game to whenever I feel like it should end... Loser takes a lava bath and I keep the soul. Or if you mean real life and not the fantasy world my mind lives in I'd like it to be in some underground warehouse. dim lighting, except for the light over the court. Game to 100... player has to win by two points.
