| No they wont make it.
Ming is out and t-Mac is out for the first hakf of the season.
They will fall far behind in the first half, and might make a late run, but I doubt they will get that 8th spot.
without T-Mac and Yao, the Rockets are very limited offensively.

| I think they will because they easily won the first round series without T-Mac and took the soon-to-be NBA Champion Lakers to 7 games, which was their toughest series that postseason (they embarrassed the Jazz and Magic, beat the Nuggets without too much problems, but had to work for their win against the Rockets)
Yao is gone, but T-Mac is back. Trevor Ariza can now take over much more of the offense than he did in LA, while other people can step up like they did in the playoffs.

| Raza t-mac is out for at least half of next season and he still have to get himself back in shape. I like Ariza and wish him the best but he really has no offense, he needs Yao/T-mac to create shots for him, maybe he will develop something in Houston but not next season. | |

| False, sorry Rockets fans. The loss of their go-to guy will really hurt them...even if T-Mac comes back better than ever, without a good Center they don't have a hope of making some noise. | |

| They beat the Lakers (the best team in the league) without T-Mac or Yao. Ariza can step it up. He knows he isn't the 3rd or 4th option anymore. He knows he needs to pick up the slack. He's nice and athletic, he should be able to drive to the hoop | |

Take 2008 for example, the Lakers lasted 6 games against the Celtics while the Hawks lasted 7, does that make them better than the Lakers? Yao is everything to the Rockets, think about what Orlando will be like w/o Howard, that's how it is for the Rockets, no post presence on off/def, that's not going anywhere especially in the West.

| The Hawks comparisons is good, but I don't agree with the other part.
The Rockets had 6'9 guys bullying the Lakers' big men on defense, so I wouldn't quite say they had no post D

| False.
Not happening. They took the lakers to seven games is a bad argument. That was 5 games without Yao... not 82.. not only that but they had hte intensity of their homecrowd in the PLAYOFFS.... they're not gonna make the playoffs this year. Lottery bound.

| False
without Von Wafer and if TMac leaves they won't muster enough offense to make the playoffs
I thought they were in until they lost Von Wafer. That was a huge loss

| False...they need a better leader than Aaron Brooks. If they still have Yao or Tmac, they'd get in | |

| They have Trevor Ariza, who I think will lead the team until McGrady gets back | |

| thats true
Brooks,TMac(if healthy),Battier,Scola,and Landry
with Ariza as 6th man is not too shabby
I think they make the playoffs if Tracy McGrady stays healthy and has a comeback season. If not than its iffy

| TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have a lot of young talent.
Ariza (has the potential to be a superstar) Scola (the hustler) Landry (dunks really good) Brooks (speed) Lowry (can turn nothing into something) Dorsey (beast on the boards) Budiger (who did good in the summer league) Taylor (has an amazing shot, but may need time to develop)
Then you have Shane Battier who is a lock down defender and if McGrady comes back healthy like he says he will then that's another plus.

| I actually think the Rockets inside game is very underrated
Scola is very underrated and outplayed an All Star Gasol in many games and in the 2008 Olympics looked unstopabble against the USA.
Landry is good defensively and a great rebounder
Dorsey at Memphis you can say the same, I think he'll be a good rebounder, defender, and shot blocker in the NBA.
On the perimeter I think they need a healthy TMac though. If Von Wafer didn't leave I would have them as the 7 seed.
losing Von Wafer's scoring is big

| Yeah I agree the Rockets should have kept Wafer. He was huge. Letting go of him must mean that they are planning on getting somebody else through trades. The Rockets are underrated every year so us Houston fans are used to it. Then evey year they do something that people say they were supposed to do. In 2007 we made the playoffs without Yao... In 2008 we went on a 22 game winning streak; winning 10 without Yao In 2009 we finally got out of the first round and took the 'almight' Lakers to seven games without Yao, T-Mac, or a back-up center. In 2010 we did... I'm just another Rockets fan waiting something else people said we couldn't do. | |

| I wouldnt be surprised if they made it.
I think Scola will average 20 PPG and the Rockets defense is good enough to make the playoffs
The Ariza-Artest think will work out better for Houston and I think not work out so well for the Lakers
Ariza is the perfect fit in H-Town.
I think McGrady may be out to prove people wrong this year so I think theres a chance he has a good year

| False.
Yao is out for the whole 2009-2010 season. T-Mac is out for the first half of the season. Trevor Ariza is a defensive specialist not a go-to-guy. Artest left.
The only remaining good core of the Rockets are Von Wafer, Aaron Brooks and Luis Scola.
But,
Brooks and Scola are not that kind of players to carry a team on their back. Von mainly focuses on offense.
So my answer is false. |

So my answer is false. I would also like to add that Von Wafer left for Europe and Mutombo Retired
