Iverson meets face to face with Eddie Jordan and Ed Stefanski.

ESPN is reporting that Iverson met with the 76ers' coach and general manager today in Dallas.

"76ers coach Eddie Jordan and general manager Ed Stefanski had a two-hour meeting in Dallas on Monday with free-agent guard Allen Iverson before the team's game against the Dallas Mavericks.

The team confirmed the face-to-face meeting with Iverson, agent Leon Rose and Iverson's longtime business manager Gary Moore.

No firm decision on signing Iverson was expected before the game Monday night. "

So the question is, is it happening?

The Sixers are playing like garbage right now; so I guess there may not be much harm in signing Iverson to the team.

One thing that worries me is that...if the Sixers do sign him; will the younger talent be able to develop or will they be benched in favour of Allen Iverson?

Andre Iguodala = Nothing more than a role player, overrated
Thad Young = Good

What young players?

Louis Williams = inconsistent (injured now)
Willie Green = inconsistent (not true PG/SG)
JRue Holiday = good (inexperienced)

They are playing horrible & have nothing to lose. They don't have any facilitators or big time scorers. AI can essentially do both if it pans out, so why not do it?

I was mainly referring to Jrue Holiday when I made that statement.
But that is true, the Sixers aren't completely stacked with young talent; hence why I said there may not be much harm done by signing him.
In addition, those guys may be playing like crap...but perhaps there is potential; resulting in me stating my concern.

Overall, the Sixers can do as they please with regards to Iverson.

I just think that the Sixers are a mess and need all the help they can buy AI, who's done a lot for the franchise and city isn't a bad option. The problem with this franchise started after they offered Brand that contract I've never liked him and have always refered to him as a glorified loser. He has been linked with an onslaught of talent when he was the 1st option and failed to make the playoffs on miserable record teams. He is a stat padder nothing more. In fact he only made the playoffs once when he was at the peak of his stat padding days and that's only because Sam Cassell came to LA.

Now he's not even a glorified loser he's just a loser cause there's nothing left in his game to wrongfully glorify he looks done.

Ehh, I guess it won't hurt to sign AI to the Sixers since they are playing awful so far.
I am quite iffy on their coach Eddie Jordan as well.

Eddie Jordan is an average coach nothing more as long as he can keep the peace it'll be alright. Philly is in need of help and I can see stuff in AI's personal life that can be alarming and cause you to not really be a fan of the man.

However, as a player I believe his scoring ability as a G is unmatched post-MJ and contrary to what people may say he isn't a ball hog and averaged 5-6 assists per game in Philly on some offensive disaster like teams. In Denver when he was put on a team with offensive talent his assists rose to 8 a game.

Plus, with all the off-court issues that he packs. I don't think he is that bad of a guy either. He gave a lot of money to the Philadelphia community to clean up the youth on youth violence that is rampant in Philly's inner city. Also he single-handedly took an unworthy team to the Finals in a memorable playoff run. AI as a player is as tough as it come.

When it comes to off-court, I appreciated the fact that AI stated how he wasn't a fan of the dress code. In addition, that was an interesting fact you told me when you said that he studied black history (correct me if I am wrong).
Just the spousal violence incident ticked me off since I know people close to me who have experienced it before.

I don't like Elton Brand what he did to the Clippers was shaddy and he's not lived up to the $ as I thought he wouldn't because he was done well before the Philly offer.

In Chicago he played alongside: Ron Artest, Jamal Crawford, Brad Miller, and Jalen Rose (when Rose was still an offensive force to be reckoned with) and missed the playoffs.

In LA he played alongside: Corey Maggette, Q.Rich & Darius Miles (when they were relevant), Lamar Odom, Andre Miller,Chris Kaman, etc. and also failed to make the playoffs.

They even failed to contend either they were just laughingstocks.

Yeah he did study that and that situation with his wife was very unfortunate and a major error in his case as well as his getting drunk in casinos and making a fool of himself in the off-season. However, he himself has stated that he has made many mistakes in his life, but he always tries to better himself as a person and sought psychatric help for his problems. Plus, he tries to help the youth to avoid the same mistakes he's done. Like I said, he has given back money to the Philly inner city youth to promote non-violence in one of the US's biggest crime cities. Plus, David Thompson, Larry Brown, etc. {respectable people} have stated that genuinely he's a good person.

The Sixers organization would prospoer though if he was to sign with them since that would mean increased ticket sales in addition to jersey sales (for Iverson anyway, haha). I wonder how Iggy would feel about AI joining the team? Haha.

They looked like they enjoyed each others company and Iggy didn't like the fact that AI contemplated retirement. It looked like a nice duo forming between the 2 and AI spotted Iggy in the dunk by giving him passes (something that the dunker asks the teammate) in the dunk contest and cheered him on, so they got along pretty well.

From what I remember Willie Green never really liked being in the shadows of AI on the bench.

Dalembert got along with AI as well, but he is so on/off and needs to go. Both of their overpaid frontcourt players in Brand and Dalembert need to go. They should trade for better players or good bench players and just let Marreese Speights start. He looks pretty good out there.

Oh true. I just was wondering sine Iggy is one of the main options for the team currently and if AI coming to Philly would bother him or no.
Then AI and Iggy could be a fun combo to watch if he does sign with them.

It would be a pretty damn good duo, but this is always where I saw Iggy a 2nd or 3rd maybe even 4th option. I mean he is a pretty damn good defender and can rebound and pass somehwat, but he gets a lot of TO's and his offense can make one grimmace at times. He's a good role player I can't see him as the face of a franchise.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.
To me, he does not possess all the tools needed to be an effective franchise player.
His offense is quite problematic which makes me not consider him a great player - just a good player.

It looks like the Sixers miss Miller's presence somewhat.

I said from the beginning of the season that w/o Miller Philly isn't a playoff team and if they wanted to stay one they should address that problem because last year Indiana, Detriot, Toronto, Charlotte, & even NY were right there with them for practically the whole year. Now that Miller is gone from Philly gives them a problem because w/o him not only do they lack stability, but they lack stability when teams, such as Charlotte, Indiana, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Toronto have some pretty good PG's.

Same thing with NO with that bench of theirs they aren't a playoff team. I said that before the season began and they have proved me right so far as well. In fact, I'm beggining to think that the Kings may be better than NO maybe not talent wise, but better in terms of getting the talent that they have to yield positive results and by playing harder who's to say that Sacramento can't win more games than NO this year. Especially, with that bench of theirs in NO.

I felt that Iggy somewhat took Miller's thunder last season but now his weaknesses are being moreso exposed this season with A. Miller's absence.

Well, the Hornets' bench has stepped up since Scott was fired as coach not too long ago. However, in comparision to other teams and their benches; the Hornets franchise possesses a slightly weaker bench.

I dunno I really don't see them as a playoff team. I mean individually Okafor is a very good player, but I see him on opposite ends with what the franchise is built upon. They should change the gameplan when CP3 comes back and incorporate a style of play that Okafor works with better, but I don't think that's CP3's fortay neither. He seems like what J.Kidd was early on in his career lob happy. Peja isn't the offensive player on a nightly basis he once was and West is inconsistent. I don't know about them.

I like the Rockets I think they'll still be a playoff team they know what they are doing and know how to pull out wins and work well with Coach Adelman.

I think the Hornets could still sneak into the playoffs, at a lower seed though.
But, I highly doubt that they could make it out past the first round due to the aforementioned weaknesses of this team. Peja is done and Posey is being overpaid for doing very minimal for this team. Wow, management made some questionable decisions with regards to the bench by anyway.

Houston could make playoffs too as long as T-Wac is not in their future.

Essentially, I agree with your top 8 teams (not sure about the order) but I would not be shocked if the Hornets take 8th spot.

The Thunder; that is another possibility but I still think Hornets are more likely to make playoffs over them though.

The Kings...they are doing better but when Martin comes back. How would they do? Even without Martin, I am not sure if they are strong enough as a team this season to make playoffs. No offense to Koolish btw I should add when I make this statement.

I dunno I agree, but Paul Westphal is a great coach that has taken his team to the Finals in 94'. He knows how to get what he wants from his players kind of like ex-Kings coach in Houston right now in Adelman. They're cut from the same clothe. Although, Adelman's Kings team was stacked with talent so much so that Gerald Wallace and Hedo Turkoglu were on the bench. Adelman's Houston team isn't, but they win cause they are scrappy those are what Westphal's Kings are.

To be fair we should see how they play when Martin comes back, but Evans is a very good player. Udrih has reinvigorated his career outside of SA. Lol I am pissed although I like Hill that Spurs opted to go with Jacque Vaughn over resigning Udrih. Plus, they have a pretty consistent and good player in Nocioni and Greene, and Hawes/Thompson is a pretty good rontcourt. I think they can surprise and overtake the Hornets this season. Maybe not playoffs just yet cause there are obviously better/more experienced teams out there and Houston seems like the likely candidates.
