Dallas Mavericks-Season Preview!!!!!

Key Additions:Shawn Marion,Drew Gooden,Rogrigue Beaubois,Tim Thomas,Kris Humphries,Quintin Ross, Nathan Jawai

Key Losses: Brandon Bass,Antoine Wright,Ryan Hollins,Jerry Stackhouse


The Mavericks look stacked on paper. They have a lot of players that can play multiple positions so Carlisle can change up the line-up to their advantage. Marion was a big add. If things work out right I see them go to the second round. Nothing more, nothing less. If Dirk goes into hyperdrive they have a chance. I'm expecting Dirk to have a career year, even though he is only getting older.

Projected Line-up:


PG: Jason Kidd/Barea
SG: Matt Carol/Jason Terry
SF: Josh Howard/Shawn Marion
PF: Dirk Nowistki/Drew Gooden
C: Erick Dampier/Tim Thomas

They can alter the line-up A LOT. They can have Dirk play center. Move MArion to forward,etc.
A pretty strong second unit, and a good overall team.

Projected Record: 54-28

Champions?

This is a team that I think improved greatly.
right now, they're my number three east team.. I think they have a great chance to surprise in the playoffs.

One problem that MAY arise is, do they have too many scorers?

they have scorers in howard,terry,dirk,and marion........kidd wont shoot as much

or go all-out defense with:

You're right about the Mavericks - I don't see them going past the 2nd round in the playoffs. They obviously appear to be a talented team that have the potential of doing a lot of damage in the playoffs. The thing is, will Dirk finally step up and be an effective leader? Don't get me wrong...Dirk is a very good player but I often have to question his leadership abilities. We will see what happens though.

Don't blame it on Nowitzki

I just think playoffs is the only concern for this team. If marion works out well though this will be a scary team though

I'm with Jaleesa on this one. I'm not sure if Dirk will be a good leader. The Mavs are a threat, they almost always cause trouble for other elite teams in the West. They have the talent and hopefully the hunger to make it far in the playoffs. But when I compare Dirk to other Team Leaders, I'm reminded why I don't have too much faith in the Mavs.
