Trade Chauncey for 2+ good young players (don't have to be sure starter material however) and maybe some draft picks.

Kenyon Martin has a player option after next year. Let him go and ask him not to accept it. That's about 15 million dollars gone. Some interesting free agents that year are Caron Butler, Tyson Chandler, Tayshaun Prince, Tracy McGrady, Rasual Butler, Nenad Krstic, Shane Battier, and Josh Howard. There are also other solid role players that I didn't mention. See if you can sign a player or two. You will also have a first round draft pick to play around with in trades or to get a good young player.

PG - Ty Lawson/CB trade
SG - JR Smith/Aaron Afflalo
SF - Luol Deng/CB trade
PF - Al Harrington/Taj Gibson
C - Nene/Joakim Noah
Plus you have a first round draft pick and potential free agent signings. That's looking like a pretty solid team to me if you can get some good players from Chauncey

Or trade Chauncey+Carmelo for Westbrook+Durant

Might take a year or two for everybody to get used to each other, but that's a decent future

I don't think there is any way THAT Hornets deal happens.

The knicks would be giving up way too much. So i don't think they do it. They'll rather stick it out till next summer.

ORL can put together a nice deal though. Maybe Pietrus, VC and someone else for Melo and Balkman

The Knicks would have to give us their whole roster except Stoudemire. They suck.

the Nuggets would have to take Okafors contract in order for a deal with the Hornets to go through... which wouldn't be bad for Denver since they need more size.

I dunno if any of those proposals make much sense for both teams. If the Chicago/Denver trade comes to fruition, that would be a very high risk high reward move since the Bulls lose some size in Noah.
