This is a terrible idea in my opinion. The reason they have the NIT is to give a good opportunity to teams who didnt' make the field.

If you look at the teams in the NIT this year, you're not going to want to die to see them play in a Round of 96. I sure as hell don't want to see Jacksonville.vs.Duke for example

The tournament is PERFECT the way it is. Changing in will water it down, and make the regular season and conference tournaments alot more meaningless.

a 16 seed can never beat a 1 seed, how's any seed lower going to be able to do it?

and an 8th seed is the lowest to win an NCAA Tournament so how's a 18 seed for example going to be able to win it

NCAA Basketball has the perfect postseason right now and they need to stick with it

and it's not going to help the mid major conferences I believe if people think it will they're fooling themselves

this is just for the greed of money. we'll see the 13th best team from the Big East and 8th best teams from the SEC which nobody cares for

St.John's the 13th best Big East team made the NIT. If it was expanded to 96 they'd be in the NCAA Tournament, and nobody would care for that

also thinking they talk about expanding a perfect NCAA Tournament, but not adding a playoff for College Football which should be done instead. Man the NCAA is stupid

take a look at some of the matchups that we'd see in a 96 team field. I say ewwww, almost all of those 1st Round matchups look painfully boring to watch. Seton Hall.vs.Wofford? Georgia Tech.vs.Troy State? seriously

The only expansion, if needed at all, is Big Ten Expansion and expansion of his brain.

I think it would be cool to give Butler a shot in the Big 10, as well as Wright State.

Butler is in FCS and plays in a stadium for 22,000. Way below Big Ten standards.

Wright State doesn't have football. The Big Ten is looking for guys who can contribute right away, rather than take teams that may be good fits down the road and develop along the way.

The Big Ten isn't going to pull a Big East and have olympic sports and basketball only members. That is exactly why the Big East got scrapped last time. It was clearly because their conference had football members and a basketball plus olympics conference. That can fly with the non-automatic BCS conferences, but for the Big Six, it's not going to fly as well.
