| The Celtics were supposed to get the #2 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft since they had the 2nd worst record in the NBA
Instead the ping pong balls bounced the wrong way and they got the #5 pick.
If they had the #2 pick they would've kept the pick and not traded it.
They traded that #5 pick and got Ray Allen. It was that Ray Allen trade which was the reason Kevin Garnett had agreed to get traded to Boston. That put the Big 3 together.
If it wasn't for the lotto going the wrong way the Celtics would've kept the pick and never had the Big 3.
and guess what that #2 pick in the Draft behind great Oden would've been Kevin Durant
how would this Celtics team do if they had this lineup had they gotten the #2 pick
PG Rajon Rondo SG Kevin Durant SF Paul Pierce PF Al Jefferson C Kendrick Perkins

| True.
I know it's a whole lot of what-if and things happen the way they do but I pondered this today and wondered what the Celtics lineup would look like
What do you people who see this thread thing their record would be with this lineup?

| That would be a sweet line up but it would have been nicer if their PF was not Big Al, lol. | |

| That's 4 promising players, and a veteran leader in Paul Pierce.
Now, they have two fossils, a veteran leader in Paul Pierce, and a young point guard who can't yet show his true potential
I would rather have Durant

| You should ask if they had the #1 pick... really Danny Ainge loved Oden.
Rondo Tony Allen Pierce Perkins Oden.
Yuck. | |

| yea, they'd be much better now (2010), but they wouldnt have won the 2008 championship. But that long wait for that celtics team to make the playoffs would come around now. If they had Durant, they would be championship contenders |

| lmao at the lineup Nick C put it
I remember when the offseason of 2008 when the Celtics were crossing their fingers hoping to get Greg Oden.
It would've been better served getting the #2 pick and the lineup I had.
I should ask another one about if they lucked out with the #1 pick too
the Celtics would've been crap had they gotten the #1 pick

the Celtics would've been crap had they gotten the #1 pick Yeah they would've done better with the #2 pick for sure. That's crazy tho... Pierce demanded to be traded until they got Ray Allen and KG... but if they got the #1 or #2 picks would they have traded it? Would Pierce of gotten traded? There are so many directions they could've gone during and after that draft if they had gotten a 1 or 2 pick.
