Michael Heisley is the majority owner with several other minority partners all based in Memphis. Heisley is the founder of The Heico Companies, which buys companies in financial distress and attempts to bring them back to prosperity.
Does ownership own other teams and facilities?
No. The Grizzlies don't own their arena, the FedEx Forum and their owners don't own any other teams.
Is Ownership doing a good job?
Heisley has been trying to sell his team over the past several years. The team hasn't been averaging 80% capacity since the 2005-2006 season (85% capacity), and the team hasn't performed well over the last several seasons, though last season they did jump up from 24 wins to 40. but this year, they are 14-17 so far, as the team is still rebuilding from the post Pow Wow era. At least the team is young, and it's bound to improve over the next few years, assuming there are no injuries to the core of Gay , Randolph and Gasol.
But even with the improvement of the team, ownership appears to be in flux and the team is rumored to possibly be a candidate for folding if the NBA decides to do so. If your team is rumored to be folding soon, that's not good.
