There's this guy on my school bus last year who was always preaching Christianity and the only thing I could understand from what he was preaching is:

"Change your religion to Christianity or else you are going to hell and will be hated by everybody"

I don't think of it as insulting that a mosque be built near the memorial... I feel like it's a clean slate really. A way to start new.

This gives bigots the opportunity to be heard, and to have less informed people rally around them.

With that being said...it is unfortunate that people can be so ignorant and so disrespectful. If you aren't a part of the dominant group...you treated as an inferior. It sucks that our society is like that. We need to wake up and realize that difference isn't a bad thing and something to be recognized and respected.

And btw, I do not see the problem at all with building a mosque near Ground Zero...people making a big deal out of that are being silly.

I'm not really for the mosque though. So many people (especially New Yorkers on top of that [hehe, I'm countering racism with statism]) are so narrow-minded and idiotic that even if the mosque was built, it would constantly be harrassed with rocks, sticks, anything that they can get their hands on. Eventually it would probably be burned or destroyed and just cause pain for everybody. It's not a good idea...

after 9/11 the FBI took in 3000 muslims who they had no proof on and accused them as terrorists..these people were tortured for years until they were leto go...these pople either became terrorists after they got released or never got a job and wer ementaly traumatized.

after 9/11 the FBI took in 3000 muslims who they had no proof on and accused them as terrorists..these people were tortured for years until they were leto go...these pople either became terrorists after they got released or never got a job and wer ementaly traumatized.

I heard something about that last year in one of my classes but I couldn't find anything on it. Not online or in the news. Any idea on where I can read about this?

The worst part is, the country is now divided between those for and against the Mosque. We as Americans should be focused on much more important things, like a possible energy crisis, global warming, people starving in other countries and our own, etc

Mosque has the right to be built. But any Muslim that wants to kill all Americans because of bigots is just as bad as the bigots themselves, and maybe worse. It's one thing to defend yourself is something like this happens, and you're attacked, but it's another to take it to the level of being a killer and especially a terrorist, because if you blow a building up, you're killing everybody, and not just the ones that hate you or whatever you stand for.
