The 6-foot-5 Wafer, who signed with Olympiacos after enjoying a breakout season with the Rockets last year, paid approximately $1.2 million to buy out his Greek contract and will rejoin the Rockets after passing his team physical.

Wafer, 24, averaged 7.7 points in three Euroleague games with Olympiacos, all coming off the bench. He now returns to Houston, where last season Wafer had his best NBA season, averaging 9.7 points in 63 games. He shot 45 percent from the field, 39 percent from the 3-point line and 75 percent from the free-throw line while averaging 19 minutes a game.

"I think he proved last year that he could play for us," said Rockets coach Rick Adelman. "We'll just have to see how everything works out. We obviously know him and know what he can do off the bench, so we'll see how it plays out."

Wafer came close to signing with Memphis, but his familiarity with the Rockets' system made Houston a more desirable landing spot. And with rookie swingman Chase Budinger hobbled with a sprained right ankle and Tracy McGrady still working his way back from last season's microfracture surgery, the Rockets can use the talent infusion.

"You know what he did for us last year," Adelman said. "And the way we're trying to play, he fits in extremely well here. So it gives us a little bit more depth, and it gives us someone that we know and who had a lot of success with us last year."

Ehh...it doesn't help them that much because he's a guard...what they need is size.

Doesn't look like he's playing anymore. He failed his physical...

Do you think he can still come back?

I Don't know, he played the very first games for us coming of the bench.
After those few games he was out of the team because of some problems with our coach, i liked wafer when he came, and sadly he was out..He didn't train while he was out.
The issue was something like A.I's, he wanted to start and not coming of the bench, our Coach said he should win the starting spot not just take it because he was a good player in the nba.
And he was pissed, started cursing each other and the story was over.

Wafer takes bad shoots and has had run ins with Adelman during the Lakers/Rockets playoffs. In at least two games he was a big reason for them losing. Houston should just keep him on the bench if they really want him.

Wafer isn't anything spectacular, but he can hold his own. It's sad because Houston is the last team that needs him...

Adelman said he fits in and will give more depth.

I remember watching the playoffs - when Houston had lost Yao Ming - and Adelman sent Wafer to the locker room. The fact that the Rockets were dealing with a roster short on talent and Adelman still didn't want Wafer there is telling. Also, I think Ron Tillery mentions in an article that Wafer hasn't been playing for Olympiakos in Greece (someone on the HoopsHype message board mentioned that he got into a fight with the coaching staff two weeks ago, was sent to the locker room, and hasn't played since).

Funny video Razz

I Don't know about Adelman.

Let me tell you about Wafer.

He couldn't understand our style, system and tactics of playing.
He couldn't adapt to the europian style of playing, he was traveling all the time and ball hogging a lot.
He also had many fight's with Giannakis our Coach and the staff.
