| Post moves.... I know he is very good. But every other NBA players are good at something too.
I know TD is a good player, a good leader and a matured player, but I don't understand him being fundamental.

| Cause you never see him with cool dunks or anything fancy. He does FUNDAMENTAL stuff only. |

| Oh, so big fundamental = "He only does fundamental stuff?" If so, how about Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki and other non-fancy players? | |

Gasol-not good enough LOL - @ fades away... Anyway if that's the case... why is TD being even talked about for all time best PF? B/c Dirk can do the post moves, 3pters and everything...

right? Fade Aways are against all fundamentals. Doing fade aways is doing opposite of what the fundamentals say. |

| Dirk and Pau Gasol are both very skilled, fundamentally sound players. Players can have flash and fundamentals, it's just not that common (ex. MJ or KB). The reason Tim is "the Big Fundamental" is because he is skilled in every aspect of the game, and uses proper techniques. For example, Shaq uses brute strength to get post position. Amare uses quickness to get position. Duncan gets post position the way they teach you in high school, the proper way. Further more, he is one of the few players that banks shots in, and the only player in the league I can think of that banks shots from 12-15 feet out. He can pass, efficient dribble, ability to drive, can finish with either hand, and manages to do all of this, the right way. That is why Tim Duncan is "The Big Fundamental" |

right? A fadeaway jumpshot or a three pointer is NOT fundamentals for a big man

| Tim Duncan is the Big Fundamental cause he does everything by the book. He is your prototypical F/C and not real athletic. | |

Thanks - very good answer. I have two questions now. 1. Should a proffessional player know something more than fundamentals? And in what way? 2. Where do you rank Tim Duncan on the all-time PF list? Why?
