I really hate Lebron, but there is a good case for him

He is 6'8 and is probably a better passer and rebounder than MJ.

Honestly though if u ask me, it was wierd for Scottie to say it as I think he might be an 'overall' better player than both Lebron and MJ.

LeBron James has high potential to be the G.O.A.T. because he has all the aspects of Michael Jordan but produces better in other areas like rebounding, assists.

Lebron is bigger, stronger, and faster than Jordan was, but I think Jordan is still more athletic. The way Jordan could twist his body through and around defenders on layups or drives to the hoop is amazing, kinda like what Kobe used to do. Lebron just powers right through them, so that is one element that Jordan still has over Lebron, besides the obvious one of shooting (although Lebron's 3 is looking hot right now).

Lebron could get there, especially with the team he has now. If you ask anybody, the biggest factor separating Lebron and Jordan is the 6-6 Finals trips (Lebron is already 0-1), with 6 rings and 6 Finals MVPs. Along with that, there's also 5 MVPs for Jordan (and with Lebron playing with two more stars, he'll probably stay around 2, maybe get to 4 max), and his DPoY.

But some people don't even consider rings as important as others, so it really depends on the person who is comparing.

As of now, it's not even close

But in the future, LeBron has a chance to end as another candidate in the G.O.A.T debate.

Get back to me after LeBron does one of the following:

1. Wins seven NBA Titles and wins at least two Finals MVP's as a Top two or top three contributor.
2. Scores 30,000 points; 8,000 assists; 8,000 boards; and 1,800 steals (he could have over 1,000 swats too) and wins at least two rings.

He is on his way to being the best player ever, but can he continue to be a 25 ppg, 7 apg, 6 rpg player at 30-32? I think he can as much as I don't like him.

Scottie Pippen: " LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game" thread 5529

This shouldn't even be an argument.

WHAT has LBJ done that MJ hasn't done.... a few times? What can LBJ do basketball wise that MJ wasn't able to do? The answer is nothing!

let's just look at basketball skill

LBJ is a good defender. MJ is considered to be one of the greatest perimeter defenders of all time. Some consider him to be THE best perimeter defender of all time.

The most steals LBJ averaged in a season was 2.2. MJ averaged that for his CAREER. most in one season was over 3 steals a game.

They both average .8 BPG in their career...and MJ is 2 inches shorter.

As a guard, MJ is considered on of the best players ever in the post. LBJ is still trying to learn how to play in the post... and he's still not great at it.

LBJ averages 7.1 RPG in his career. The most he ever averaged in one season was 7.9. MJ averages 6.2 RPG in his career... his season high was 8. And MJ is 2 inches shorter and 45 pounds less.... also remember, MJ played in a league where there was a lot of good physical big men... LBJ is playing in a league where some soft PF's play C regularly.

LBJ averages 3.3 Turnovers a game for his career.. MJ averaged 2.7.

They are both great at getting to the rim... but again, big men used to be better and there was hand checking. LBJ is huge, and there's no hand checking now. EASY.

MJ was a GREAT jump shooter. maybe not from 3, but he could easily hit them from 21 feet consistently. LBJ is a pretty bad mid-range shooter and an average 3 point shooter.

LBJ probably is a better passer and has better court vision... but remember, MJ did play PG one season and averaged 8 APG... so it's not like he couldn't pass.

When you look at things such as heart, leadership, will to win, etc. MJ wins all of those.

So saying LBJ is better or as good as MJ because he's bigger and and good numbers is just stupid... because it's A LOT more than that.

Needs a ring and still needs to develop that killer instinct. He will be though..no ones close talent wise, honestly.

LeBron James & Dwight Howard are the most athletic players in NBA history.

Best argument ever, except one part:

LeBron had 4,364 assists and 2,086 turnovers over 627 games which is a 2.1 A:TO ratio. Jordan had 5,633 assists and 2,924 turnovers over 1,072 games which is a 1.92 A:TO ratio, so LeBron wins this here based on the stat line. An argument can be made here that LeBron is a better ball handler and point guard than Jordan.

LeBron averaged more turnovers a game than Jordan, but on offense, he played the role of facilitator most of the time, so naturally his turnovers are going to go up. Jordan shared ball handling with Pippen for much of his career. Another thing that could help Jordan's case in A:TO ratio is that his assists went down more than his turnovers in his later Bulls years and Wizards years, so he likely had a similar A:TO ratio to LeBron after he played 627 games.

Otherwise, I am completely in the Jordan camp.

Oh yeah, I was gonna say that LBJ is a better ball handler.

^^ That's true... but LBJ set a season high in TO's Per game this season with 3.6.... and he was sharing the ball with Wade.

no, not consistently.

Scottie was a great defeder, but no great scorer in NBA histroy could be stopped by one guy. Especially with no hand checking.

We already know what kind of player MJ was and all that he has accomplished.

Saying LBJ is going to get as good and accomplish every thing MJ did is just assuming that's going to happen.

Everything I said was fact. MJ put up better numbers and he did it in a harder league.

You're just assuming LBJ is gonna get even better and do everything MJ did?

Everything LBJ has done, we KNOW MJ did... better and more often. Everything MJ did, you THINK LBJ is gonna do. There's a difference.

And I was talking about basketball skills... MJ is better.

Can score check
Can pass better check
Can rebound better check
Can defend

Just STFU

so you ignore everything I say in the first post, and everything else in the last post and you're just gonna say LBJ is a better passer and tell me to shut the fuck up... hmm... I say good argument! Rolling Eyes

And if you read my first post, you would have seen what I said about the rebounding thing. LBJ averages .9 more rebounds per game in his career than MJ... but obviously he would average more, he's bigger. BREAKING NEWS! if you're taller and bigger, you'll probably average more rebounds per game!

no, not consistently.

Scottie was a great defeder, but no great scorer in NBA histroy could be stopped by one guy. Especially with no hand checking.

I read somewhere that Pippen once locked Michael in one half and MJ was scoreless in that period in some game..
