Diana Taurasi suspended from Euroleague team due to failure of a preliminary drug test

Well, Diana is one of the best basketball players in the world, and also among WNBA stars, she's also the most "thuggish", since the WNBA suspended her for cussing out refs, and a DUI she had last year. But now she recently tested positive for a drug test in Turkey where she's playing during the "money season."

The positive result came from an "A" sample, from Taurasi's urine sample. If the A sample is positive, the B sample can then be tested. If that's negative, Taurasi should be cleared and the thing is over with. However, for whatever reason before the B sample was tested, this was released to the press, and her name is out there, right as her UConn Huskies won 89 straight games including the dances.

The substance is modafinil, which is a stimulant used to combat things like narcolepsy, and excessive sleepiness. Well to Taurasi's credit, she never looked sleepy when it was time to play.

If the B sample is positive, the Taurasi could be in some deeper jeopardy. First, the WNBA could suspend her for the positive test for some number of games and I would think that they would, given that she's been suspended twice already. Second, she could be banned from being on the 2012 Olympic team, which would greatly disappoint Geno Auriemma, because he is salivating about having many of his own stars like her, Sue Bird, and Maya Moore all on the same team...

To me, this at worst is an honest mistake, because Diana took some prescription or OTC drug and it just happened to have a banned drug in it. Look at our top dog shooter Rashard Lewis!

Well even if it weren't prescription...I'd believe it.

Based on that information, I also believe its a honest mistake.
If that is indeed the case, I hope they'd take that into consideration.
