Who owns them?
Leslie Alexander is the owner who is a former stock trader, he is still involved with capital funds, but is also invested into real estate and of course, the Houston Rockets.
Does ownership own other teams and facilities?
Alexander owned the WNBA's Houston Comets from 1997-2007 where his team won four WNBA Championships; he then sold the team to new ownership, but the team folded the next year. He doesn't own the Toyota Center, where the Rockets play with the AHL's Houston Aeros which is the affiliate to the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
Is Ownership doing a good job?
At the box office in recent years, they've averaged around 90%, which isn't bad for a team that is consistently a .500+ team every season Yao Ming has been on the roster except for the 2005-2006 campaign.
It's also remarkable that the Rockets have also remained a .500+ team in recent years despite the decline of stars like Tracy McGrady, and Yao Ming, who has been their franchise cornerstone for nearly a decade now. Solid pickups like Luis Scola (drafted by the Spurs in 2002, but his rights were traded to Houston in 2007) and Aaron Brooks have made any transition away from Yao Ming quite a bit easier when it happens.
It's also disappointing that despite the team's overall success since Yao Ming came, the team won 50+ games a season four time, yet the team only managed to get in the 2nd round of the playoffs, once, and Yao was injured when they did in 2009. Perhaps in a different era, they could've made the conference finals or better.
So I'll say that ownership is doing a good job, in this loaded division.
