The Hornets starting the season 11-1, or having a record of 3-9 since that hot start.

I can't really decide. I was very surprised at the 11-1 start cuz the Hornets weren't even supposed to be that good this year. I was even more surprised when they actually beat some good/decent teams [Spurs, Mavs, heat, nuggets, bucks, blazers, healthy rockets]. So after going 11-1 and beating some good teams, I am surprised that they have gone 3-9 in their last 12 games.

11-1 start...3-9 is a bad stretch, but any average team might go through that over the course of a season. The Hornets are an average team and for them to start out the season looking like the league's best was way more of a surprise than them looking like a middle of the pack team.
