Might be a blessing in disguise because it forces Miami to sign Erick Dampier to a deal, which they should have done regardless.

Haslem is the leader of the Heat it seems and only player who has mental toughness on their team and as Ryan said only glue guy.

This is going to kill the Heat. They're going to try to replace him with Dampier it seems. Dampier is soft as well and there's a reason nobody wanted him on their team

Dampier is better than any center they have right now. It's not as if Z plays inside, and Joel Anthony is undersized and can't rebound or finish (even on easy shots). Dampier really isn't that soft, he's a big strong guy and knows how to use his body. He's just not aggressive. But they don't need aggressive, they need size, rebounds and someone who can defend big men. Anything will help at this point.

Dampier isn't really that good or isn't going to really save the Heat. It's a good signing since anybody is better than Joel Anthony and Illgauskus right now

Dampier playing in South Beach? Not a bad stopgap. But how about Juwan getting some more time? Last year, he got a good amount of PT and was still holding his own!

yea but he's a PF...what the heat have needed from the start is a C. he should see some time with Haslem gone though. you're right about what he did last year. it was actually sort of impressive.
