Oh boy... new technical foul guidelines.

They tried this before a couple of years back... it lasted the preseason and then died out quickly.

You might have to send a email to your favorite player and tell 'em to shut it!

At the referees' annual meeting in Jersey City, N.J., on Thursday, the league announced the guidelines for technical fouls will expand to include "overt" player reactions to referee calls.

Referees have been instructed to call a technical for:

• Players making aggressive gestures, such as air punches, anywhere on the court.

Kobe.

• Demonstrative disagreement, such as when a player incredulously raises his hands, or smacks his own arm to demonstrate how he was fouled.

Kobe.

• Running directly at an official to complain about a call.

Kobe.

• Excessive inquiries about a call, even in a civilized tone.

Kobe.

In addition, referees have been instructed to consider calling technicals on players who use body language to question or demonstrate displeasure, or say things like, "Come on!" They can also consider technicals for players who "take the long path to the official", walking across the court to make their case.

Are you kidding me? This is total BS.

You basically can't do anything.

I know it can be annoying at times but a player should be allowed to express themselves.

It just depends how hard they really push the rules.

I still think it'll be like that in the preseason and some of the regular season... but in the playoffs?

That would be just plain stupid. That's the most intense time for athletes.

Yeah..And i didn't even think about Play-Offs, it will be even worse. In the Finals everyone will be staying like pussy just because it will be his 7th tech and after that he will get suspended.

Now i don't think it will do good anyway. I imagine someone getting way too pissed of getting out of a game only because he raised his eyebrows(lol) and ending up punching the ref. Last time that happened the ref almost lost his vision.

this is so fuckin stupid. When a ref calls a foul on a player and that player doesn't think he fouled the other dude.. he's obviously gonna react.. you can't expect a guy to just walk away and be cool with it.

i doubt it lasts long though

It can't. There is no way it can last.

I put Kobe under every example because by the new guidelines he'd be ejected in every game after his first two fouls... maybe three.

and in the heat of the moment in a close game.. players will react to calls.

Ugh... but then it isn't fair for non-star players.

We all know that star players get all the calls. It's already unfair for most rotation players to go up against Wade, LeBron, Kobe and Durant... but if it trickles into the tech fouls too... that just makes the league look super biased... or more biased than it already is to elite players.

It won't last long like everyone else stated, these players have emotions and many yeah have mouths and run them off but many just state their case of why they think they did not foul the guy and they move on.

I just want to see how long it goes .
