dunno enuf about a lot of the players on 1984.
since i haven't heard of some of them, i can't rightly vote for them. so i guess 96 only because I know how good they are.

I do know enough on the two teams and this one goes to the 84 because they have everything what it's needed to win.
How the hell did the 96 class went pass the 03 class...

Stockton is all the all time leader in assists and steals. he is a perfect PG to have on this kind of team cuz he can still be an impact player without scoring. AI on the other hand needs to score to be an impact player.
Jordan is one of the best defensive players ever and is one of the best post players ever. he leads all guards in nba history in blocks, and is up there in steals as well. He was also able to score A LOT against good defenses. Kobe wouldn't stop him and MJ would REALLY slow Kobe down.
Charles barkely is one of the best rebounders in NBA history pound-for-pound. He's a good defender and can score in the paint. Peja can't play D. Charles can stop Peja.
Thorpe-walker. ehhh.. you can make a case for both.
Olajuwan-Camby. Not close. Hakeem >Camby easily.
Sam perkins-O'neal- Perkins was a big guy who could spread the floor. He can take O'neal to the outside and not really make him a factor when it comes to blocking shots.
Stev nash is a better offensive player than Alvin Robertson, but Robertson owns him on D.
at the end of the day.. 84 is sick on D. 96 isn't.

I got 1984 winning this.
Hakeem Olajuan and Otis Thorpe dominate the paint with great passes from Stockton. Even without Jordan that'd be enough but with Jordan more than enough
1984 wins by 12 due to their dominant inside game

Not a chance in hell. If 84 would win, it'd be close. Their bench is shit.

Allen Iverson< John Stockton Kobe Bryant=Michael Jordan (Lol, I just want to see your guy's reactions) Peja Stojakovic<Charles Barkley Antoine Walker<Otis Thorpe Marcus Camby<Hakeem Olajawon Steve Nash>Jay Humphries Ray Allen>Alvin Robertson Jermaine O’Neal<Sam Perkins Stephon Marbury<Kevin Willis
I say it's a real close race, and I think that the starters of 1984 are a lot better although the bench of 1996 is overall a lot better.

at one point, he was the oldest player in the league. the dude played until he was in his mid-40s.
He was nothing special offensively but he was a pretty nifty rebounder. I remember him cause he was a Spur :p
and a raptor for a little

Also his nickname was T-Rex because he was tall yet had really short arms...
Weird short arms.
Uh...
I got 96'
Barkley was a shitty defender and would more than hate chasing Peja... I'd put him up versus Walker before I put him on Peja. Combo of Walker and Peja would pull Barkley out of his comfort zone. Defensivley they'd just score on each other.
Stockton and Nash.... they separated by only a few qualities... however the biggest is Stockton was a great defender and took less risks than Nash. Nash was a more frequent shooter. Iverson torches Stockton. Even though Stock is a great defender, Iverson usually torched the guy. John just could never keep up with AI. I'm thinking even in his prime AI is a bit too much for Stock to cover. Alvin Robertson. Great defender and rebounder for guard... but offensively no match and his passing was always m'eh. Marbury at one point was the second best PG in the league. That combination of PG styles is just too much for Stock and Robertson.
Kobe.... Jordan.... Gotta say I wish I had a time machine to watch both in their prime MJ of 37pts vs. Kobe of 35... wow... I feel like it anyones game... but out of a 7 game series Jordan.
Olaju... I'm not even gonna pretend there is any advantage Camby or JO have... won wins... THE only advantage is that there are two of them as Perkins was an okay player, but wasn't physical at all and would fall in love with his jumper, plus Sam was sloooooooooooooow and an uninterrested rebounder and defender. They'd run past him for three and a half quarter before the weed wore off and Sam would finally grab a rebound.
Ray Allen... lol.... no contest.
Both Thorpe and Willis were okay in their day. But not guys a team plans to make the focus of the defense (not even as the second plan). Plus both were mistake prone. Especially Otis. Also if you passed the ball to Willis, you'd never see the ball again.

funny thing is.. in 10 years, people your age won't know who Camby, O'neal, Marbury, walker and stojakovic are.

I agree, except for Marbury.
Way too many youtube clips of him to forget. They may not know that he was a good player at one time.
I still get nauseous when I think about him eating Vaseline.
Urgh...
Oh... and this one...

fun to watch? hell yeah!
anyones game? not really.. If you wanna take those seasons from each player, MJ has the clear advantage. They both took about 27 Shots per game. MJ made them at 48% to kobes 45%. but according to everyone... isn't the 80's the greatest defensive era of all time? 00's era cleary favors guards and rules are set up so that it's easier for the offensive player. Not to mention that MJ has an NBA record 40 straight games with at least 27 points that season. Also, on D, MJ had 3 SPG and 1.5 BPG to kobes 1.8 SPG and .4 BPG.
and I would actually say that MJ's best season was either 87 or 88.
that's why between the 2.. i don't feel like its anyones game. haha

Yeah, but Kobe attempts way more threes which attributes largely to his lower FG%. The greatest defensive era was actually in the late 80 to mid 90's until the league abolished or enforced multiple rules that gave defenders an advantage. The treatment Jordan got on whistles tho through his career... whoa... I haven't seen a player that coddled since Wade played Dallas in the Finals.
The thing is Jordan never played someone that had the same attributes as him. Clyde Drexler was the closest... but outside of him very few shooting guards in the 80's had an almost a mirror game of Jordan. Kobe has had far more athletic guards to cover than Jordan did in the 80's. I give Jordan the win, but I think it's a lot closer than you think it is.
