- We just unloaded 2000 plus words of the latest draft talk on our NBA Draft Blog today. We covered the DeMarcus Cousins-Derrick Favors workout in Sacramento and gave the latest updates on what the Wizards, Sixers, Nets, Timberwolves and Kings were all up to. As we get closer to the draft the info just keeps rolling in. Here's a few bonus nuggets, that came in after the blog published.
A number of NBA sources are telling me that the Denver Nuggets are in the hunt for a Top 10 pick. Nuggets GM Mark Warkentein has been calling around trying to gauge interest in teams selling the pick. According to sources Warkentein is offering Ty Lawson for the pick. A Nuggets source said the Nuggets are looking for big man to fill up their front line. Several bigs including Cole Aldrich, Ed Davis, Ekpe Udoh, Patrick Patterson, Daniel Orton and Hassan Whiteside could be there at 10.
Butler's Gordon Hayward is getting serious looks from the Clippers, Jazz, Pacers and Bucks. But could he go even higher than No. 8? The Sacramento Kings (drafting at No. 5) have been pushing to get Hayward in and will have Hayward and Nevada's Luke Babbitt in for a workout on June 23rd, the day before the draft. Could the Kings take Hayward ahed of the two guys we have highest on their board -- DeMarcus Cousins and Greg Monore? Probably not. But the Kings have been talking to several teams about moving down in the draft. The Kings are looking for veterans and have been shopping Andres Nocioni and Francisco Garcia to see if they can get any takers. If they do move down a few notches, both players could be intriguing. - The Nuggets are interested in trading up in this month's NBA Draft and the Pacers could be a fit for a deal.
Indiana has the 10th overall pick and would like to land point guard Ty Lawson from Denver.

| That could actually be a good trade for the Pacers. They got a young guard with good potential...and the Nuggets also get the opportunity to draft a big man. But I am wondering if the Pacers rather take their chances in the draft or through free agency... | |

| They have T.J. Ford and A.J. Price on contract for next season. I don't know why they'd consider giving up a high draft pick for another point guard. Lawson did play great last season, but I thought that the Pacers were also happy in what they saw from Price. They should use their draft pick to take the best player available, not trade it away for someone who COULD be a solid point guard. | |

Too old? I think they want to go for one more shot at the Finals next season with mostly the roster they have now + another big man. But if they decided they wanted to oust a couple players, letting Billups go would probably be the right move.

| The Nuggets need to shop Nene. Yeah he's pretty beastly...but he's not worth 11 mil. That's their one weakness, a dominant low post force. Trade him and like Anthony Carter to Minnesota for Big Al, and then you've got an experienced nucleus of Carmelo, Billups, and Al Jefferson. Pretty damn good if you ask me... | |

| Jefferson's way more productive on offense though...which is what the Nuggets need. Not to mention he's way more consistent... | |

| Production for bad teams doesn't always translate. Al Jefferson didn't even shoot 50% from the field this season. Nene shot almost 59% and is a more versatile defender and better passer. He does a lot more for a team than Jefferson, who kind of runs the Minnesota offense into the ground. | |

| Al Jefferson was injured, if you didn't notice...lol. And that's because Nene doesn't take that many shots. Big Al is a 20 PPG on almost any team, and at 50% that's incredibly efficient. If Nene maks 59% of about the 8 shots he takes a game, I'm not so impressed. Big Al is a better rebounder and post player than Nene and that's what Denver needs. Kenyon Martin without shooting the dumb jumpers is pretty much a copy of Nene...they don't need two of the same players. | |

| Jefferson was healthy for 50 games last season and shot under 50% again. He's only 50.3% for his career. He's a better rebounder than Nene, but he's slow and the Nuggets don't need another scorer right now to begin with. Jefferson is more likely to clog up the Nuggets offense than he is to increase the team's scoring, and he isn't an upgrade over Nene defensively. Nene fills his role the way the Nuggets need him to. Martin is the player that is not worth the contract in Denver. | |

| Nene is the most consistent player on the Nuggets in my opinion, so Jefferson being consistent isn't really a valid argument. Also, Nene averaged 14 points a game on 9 (8.7) shots a game. Jefferson averaged 17 points a game on 15 (14.8 ) shots a game. Jefferson averaged 9 rebounds a game, Nene got 8. Their numbers are pretty similar, except Nene knows what to do. When Jefferson gets the ball, Jefferson wants to score. Nene knows when to put the shot up and when to pass it back out. Nene also hustles for loose balls and on fast breaks, where Jefferson is pretty slow and lazy...I'd rather have Nene. As for Ty Lawson being traded..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! | |

Good...because George Karl has been killing to get Ty Lawson for the past two drafts...and hopefully he wouldn't trade away our future starting PG for a draft pick...
