| Currently, a basketball game is 48 minutes long and teams have that time to score as much as possible and stop the other team as much as possible. But what if there was no time limit, and a set score to get to?
What if the point of a basketball game was to score 100 points before the other team? Would it ruin the fun of the game or promote better defense? Too many times we see half a team just give up while trying to play defense on a fast break, and it just leads to a very easy 2 points. So the things to do here would be: -Take out the time limit -Stop the pussy foul calls -First to 100 wins

| D: I love it, but it will never be used in the NBA. It would make the game a lot more physical, ala the 80s. And what I've seen of the 80s (admittedly, not much) is bomb. More defense, more contesting shots, less lazy/terrible shot attempts. Everybody working to get an easier bucket than going iso. Anything that promotes better team ball and better defense = BOMB in my book. I just wish the NBA could do SOMETHING to change this. It won't be this, but SOMETHING. Like this idea though | |

Like this idea though I agree with this I think the physical nature of the NBA needs to be brought back like it was in the 90s. It would allow for more rivalries and intense games. There needs to be more hustle as well. When players hustle it makes it exciting as it does in the NCAA and the Olympic tournament

| Visa - Yeah 100 is a bit low, but I just wanted to get the idea out
Ryan - I know it will probably never be used (less fouls = less points = less money), but this is what I think of when I'm in algebra class

| starting around 96 the league has been anti defense...
while this seems like an okay idea... the leage wont be doing anything to help the defense any time soon...
They like high scoring games because the fans [most of us] like high scoring games.
and with your example.. lets say the suns play the bulls. The Suns clearly have the better offense so they are more likely to get to 100 points first because a good defense can only contain a good offense for so long.. and the suns still wouldnt be thinking about defense because they would try to get 100 points as fast as they could.
also, what if it takes like 3 hours for a team to get to 100 because both teams are extremely off?
