| Iverson leaves the grizzlies - Quote :
- LOS ANGELES –- The Allen Iverson saga has taken another turn as the veteran guard asked for and was granted permission to leave the Grizzlies to deal with a personal matter, according to an NBA source.
Iverson, 34, met with Griz owner Michael Heisley Friday night following the team’s 114-98 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The pair met again this morning, and Iverson was expected to depart for Atlanta this afternoon.
Atlanta is where Iverson lives during the offseason.
This latest development comes after Iverson played in three games since returning from a hamstring injury. Iverson came off the bench in each of those appearances and expressed his displeasure over that role all week.
It is not known when Iverson will rejoin the Grizzlies. |

| I feel bad for AI. Mike Conley is starting over him. Everyone is hating on him. Sigh. | |

| He's probably quitting on them because he's not starting.
Or he's wondering if Shaq is hitting on his wife, like what Gilbert's going through.

| He's gotta comeback, he's too good to just walk away. He deserves to start over Conley. | |

| Allen Iverson is god. Greatest scorer pound for pound this game has ever seen. He isn't losing it and is just getting hated on for things that aren't his fault. If I was Walsh I'll take him and he should start ahead of Hughes any day. AI 4 life!!!! | |

| The man off the bench in 20 or so minutes put up 18 points and scored 11 points in 17 minutes off of 9 shots. He can go he is still hell of fast. He said that he wouldn't mind coming off the bench if the team was winning, which it's not. The team is built on selfishness Zach Randolph/OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay is at it with Mayo. Plus Conley sucks!!! Iverson is a proud person he has always been one. He sacrifices himself for the game. | |

| If you don't mind me asking SRF why aren't you a big AI fan? Is it because of who he is off the court? With the scuffles he had with his wife or getting arrested in the casinos? Cause as a player he is great and even as a person he is misunderstood. I mean John Thomspson said it himself in Georgetown you wouldn't have thought by looking at him that he was a studious man. He studied Revolutionary thought, especially African American Revolutionary thought reading up on men, like Malcolm X and Marcus Garvey. If you held a convo with him he'd probably be very knowledgable about subject matters you'd probably never knew he would have been. Plus, as a player he is everything and more and has sacrificed his small frame throughout his career and exceled doing it. He is the greatest scorer post-MJ the game has seen and I'd always said he'd give MJ a run for his money if he was of quintessential SG size. I mean look at how he took it to MJ back when MJ was still winning championships. | |

| I just thought it was selfish of him to not want to come off the bench while he was on the Pistons last season. Like the Pistons possess a team-oriented dynamic and obviously the franchise had a plan in mind when they were considering making him come off the bench; but no, he wanted to be a starter. That kinda bothered me.
In addition, I find it hard respecting those who would lay a hand on a female; and Iverson falls into that category.
He is a good scorer; but, to me, he isn't exactly team-oriented which I am not a fan of.
Though, I like how he told off Stern when he implemented a new dress code for NBA players. Stern is a douche.

| AI has game, and has been mistreated recently by the NBA. IDK why nobody will give him a starting role... | |

| Allen Iverson did not want to come off the bench in Detroit because it wasn't working Curry was a stupid coach and the team was losing. He said he had no problems coming off the bench if the team was winning, but Detroit wasn't. In fact I think he did more than enough to show that he was committed to Detroit when he got there. Dumars promised him a bigger role and he wasn't given that chance, but they asked him to fit into the team dynamic and he did it.
I mean he significantly cut down his shot attempts even though he never needed to when he played for the Pistons. As if he never cut down his shot attempts enough when he played for Denver and he shot 19 shot attempts per game which was less than the 20+ he shot being the lone-player in Philadelphia all of those years. In Detroit he shot 14 shots per game and was hesitant in shooting the ball. He also isn't a ballhog at all he has gone through seasons when he dished off 8 apg and holds career averages of 6.2 APG. Hitting his wife was a serious lapse of judgement on his part to which I don't condone, but he was severely intoxicated during the altercation, which doesn't condone what he did, but people always say he is a great person and not at all what he seems. Jason Kidd hit his wife which is terrible, but I find that to be his personality drunk or not word around town is that as a person he's a real heel and I've heard it from so many sources, including my aunt who is a journalist that went to the Kidd's home and said both him and his wife were snobby, fake, and rude. Allen Iverson gets praised by guys like Joh Thompson (who I greatly respect), which makes me wonder he must be misunderstood, which I think he has been.

| Iverson would have made perfect sense going to the Bobcats they are built solid defensively, but with limited offensive firepower and a lack of depth meaning that Raja Bell would need to come off the bench as a 6th Man to give the team depth, which he would have been fine in doing and AI can takeover and do what he does. I could have even seen him fit out with the Knicks a player of AI's caliber would have made it much more easier in reeling in a legit 2010 FA. | |

| He is a very good scorer but I find that, at times, he gets a little too much hype than he actually deserves. | |

| I think he flat-out carried a team of misfits to an NBA Finals appearance and he has put his body on the line against giants. He is fearless on the court. He also is an unappreciated passer. As a ball player I love the guy!!! | |
